Advertise to Eastern European Americans and Slavic Americans With One Sponsorship

Polish Chicago, Russian Brooklyn, Slovenian Cleveland and Bosnian St. Louis each have their own festivals and papers. One pageant sponsorship puts your logo in front of women from all twelve communities and the families who vote for them. Pick a tier, pay by card, and it goes live by itself.

Monthly or yearly, cancel at the end of any paid period. Invoice issued for every payment.

The short answer

How to advertise to Eastern European Americans without twelve separate media buys

Eastern European Americans are not one audience. They are at least twelve communities with about 15 million ancestry mentions between them, and each runs its own festivals, newspapers, radio and church halls. Published sponsor prices go from $20 for a classified to $50,000 for a festival presenting sponsor, and almost every one of those buys reaches one community for one weekend or one issue.

A MissSlavic sponsorship costs $169 to $4,390 a month and runs on one English and Polish pageant site with leaderboards for 13 countries. From the Silver tier at $439 a month your logo sits on every country board, so a brand that sells to Polish, Ukrainian, Serbian and Bulgarian Americans pays once instead of once per community.

Audience size

How big each Eastern European American community is

Polish Americans outnumber the other eleven communities combined, which is why most ethnic media in the US is Polish or Russian. The smaller Balkan communities are concentrated in a few metros, so a single local festival can reach a large share of them.

Sources: US Census Bureau. Polish from the 2020 census (alone or in combination), Ukrainian from the 2023 American Community Survey, Belarusian from the 2022 survey, Montenegrin from the 2020 census detailed tables (alone or in combination, T01001), all others from the 2024 American Community Survey one-year estimates, table B04006, except Bosnian (race tables B02022 and B02024). Ancestry counts overlap: a person who reports Polish and Ukrainian ancestry is counted in both bars, so the total of 15,082,841 is ancestry mentions, not people.

Who it suits

Brands that sell to more than one Slavic community

Money transfer and parcels

Remittance and shipping services that cover Poland, Ukraine and the Balkans and want one placement for all of them.

Travel to Central and Eastern Europe

Agencies and tour operators selling summer trips to Krakow, Prague, Dubrovnik, Sofia and Sarajevo.

Eastern European grocers and importers

Delis and online shops whose shelves run from Polish pierogi to Bulgarian sirene and Bosnian sudzuk.

Immigration and citizenship lawyers

Firms handling visas, green cards and citizenship by descent for several countries in the region.

Beauty and bridal brands

Salons, skincare, gowns and jewelry sold nationally to the same woman who enters or votes in a beauty pageant.

Banquet halls and event venues

Halls that host Polish weddings, Serbian slavas and Ukrainian church dinners and want every community to know the room.

Who should buy elsewhere

A campaign that must run in Russian or Ukrainian needs native-language media: 1,021,165 people speak Russian at home. A shop that serves one neighborhood gets more from its local festival than from a national site.

Questions brands ask

Advertising to Eastern European Americans, answered

How many Eastern European Americans are there?

The Census Bureau counts about 15 million ancestry mentions across the twelve Slavic communities on this page: 8,599,601 Polish (2020 census), 2,055,088 Russian, 1,989,199 Czech, Slovak and Czechoslovakian, 1,258,979 Ukrainian and smaller Balkan groups. People with two ancestries are counted twice, so the number of people is lower.

How do I advertise to Eastern European Americans?

Either buy community by community, through ethnic newspapers, radio, directories and festival sponsorships, or buy one placement that several communities see. Festival and print buys usually cover one community for one weekend or issue; a MissSlavic sponsorship covers all 13 country boards for a month from $439.

How much does it cost to advertise to Eastern European Americans?

Published prices run from $20 for a classified in a Bulgarian weekly to $50,000 for the presenting sponsor of the Oklahoma Czech Festival. The cheapest placement in each of the twelve communities adds up to $1,338. MissSlavic tiers cost $169 to $4,390 a month, with yearly billing at ten months for twelve.

Which Slavic community is the largest in the US?

Polish Americans, by a wide margin. The 2020 census counted 8,599,601 people of Polish ancestry alone or in combination, 2.59 percent of the US population, more than the other eleven communities on this page combined. Russian Americans are second at 2,055,088 in the 2024 survey.

Do I need ads in Polish, Russian or Ukrainian?

Not for most of the audience. The older Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian and Croatian communities are mostly third to fifth generation and read English. Newer arrivals differ: about 31 percent of the 256,900 people who speak Serbo-Croatian at home speak English less than very well. MissSlavic runs in English and Polish.

Can I sponsor just one community?

The tiers are sitewide, so your logo is not limited to one country. If you want to spend only on one group, each community page above lists that group's own festivals, papers and radio with published prices, and you can buy those directly from the organizers.

Is a pageant sponsorship tax deductible?

A placement bought to advertise your business is normally an advertising expense rather than a charitable gift. You get an invoice for every payment. Confirm the treatment with your accountant, since it depends on your business and how you book the cost.
