The short answer

What a beauty pageant title sponsor gets and what it costs

A beauty pageant title sponsor buys the top tier of a pageant, usually naming ("Miss X presented by Your Brand"), the back cover of the program book, stage mentions and VIP seats. Published US prices for that tier run from $2,500 at Continental Worldwide to $10,000 and more at Pageant Planet, Miss Earth USA and Miss South Dakota.

The MissSlavic Title tier costs $4,390 a month or $43,900 a year. It adds naming rights to everything Platinum includes: the world gala backdrop, a VIP and speaking slot, and your logo on the sponsor wall, every country leaderboard, every contestant page and the rotating ad screens.

What the title tier buys

Eight placements in one booking

Four placements switch on by themselves when the payment clears. The other four happen at the gala and are planned with you by email, because a person has to hang the backdrop and hand you the microphone.

Live on the site after payment

  1. 1

    Sponsor wall

Your logo and link on the public sponsor wall, the page buyers and journalists open to see who backs the pageant.

  2. 2

    Every country leaderboard

Your logo on the leaderboard of each national contest, the pages voters refresh during voting.

  3. 3

    Every contestant page

Your logo on each contestant profile, the page she shares with family and friends to collect votes.

  4. 4

    Rotating ad screens

Your creative in the rotating ad screens across the site, shared only with Gold and Platinum sponsors.

Arranged with you for the gala

  1. 5

    Naming rights

The world gala billed as presented by your brand, in our announcements and on stage. Naming is sold to one brand per gala.

  2. 6

    Gala backdrop

Your logo on the stage backdrop behind the finalists, the frame of every coronation photo.

  3. 7

    VIP and speaking slot

Seats at the gala and a short slot on stage, which most title buyers use to present a prize.

  4. 8

    In-kind prizes

Your product or service in the winners' prize package, named on stage when it is presented.

Title versus presenting

Title sponsor or presenting sponsor, and where Platinum fits

In US sponsorship practice a title sponsor has its name built into the name of the event (the Bank of America Chicago Marathon), while a presenting sponsor follows it ("presented by" or "in association with"). Title is the bigger commitment. Pageants blur the two words, so read what the tier actually prints on the program and the stage.

On MissSlavic the Title tier is the only tier with naming, and it is billed as "presented by". Platinum carries the same gala backdrop and VIP slot without the name, at less than half the price.

Market prices

Published title sponsor prices at US pageants and community events

We collected every US pageant page we could find that prints a price for its top or title tier, plus a few community events your marketing team may be weighing against a pageant. Most pageants still sell this tier only by email or phone.

Who buys the title tier

Brands that want their name on the crown moment

Beauty, bridal and jewelry brands

A gown house, a bridal salon or a jeweler whose product is literally on stage. The coronation photo is your catalog shot.

Brands selling to Slavic communities

Travel to Central and Eastern Europe, parcel and money transfer, immigration law, banquet halls. One name across thirteen country contests instead of a dozen festival booths.

Med spas and cosmetic dentists

Practices that already sponsor galas and want one larger, named placement instead of five program ads.

Agencies buying for a client

A fixed price, a card checkout and an invoice, so the media plan does not wait on a proposal deck.

Buying for one city or one community only? A heritage page or the Silver tier at $439 a month fits better. See all tiers

Tax and wording

Three rules US sponsors check before they sign

Deduct it as advertising

A business deducts sponsorship as an ordinary advertising expense under IRC section 162. Treas. Reg. 1.162-15 even uses a $1,000 program ad bought from a church as its example of a business expense.

Most pageants are not charities

The IRS noted that nonprofit pageant organizations are usually exempt under 501(c)(4), not 501(c)(3). A payment to them is not a charitable gift, so the advertising route is the one that applies.

Naming is acknowledgment, a sales pitch is advertising

For a nonprofit property, "presented by Your Brand" with a logo and web address counts as acknowledgment under Treas. Reg. 1.513-4. Add a price, a discount or "call today" and the same message becomes advertising for the organizer.

This is general information, not tax advice. Confirm the treatment with your accountant.

Questions buyers ask

Title sponsorship questions

What does a title sponsor get?

A title sponsor gets its name attached to the event itself, plus the best version of every other benefit. In pageants that usually means "presented by" naming, the back cover of the program book, stage mentions, VIP seats and logo placement everywhere. On MissSlavic it adds naming rights to all Platinum benefits.

What is the difference between a title sponsor and a presenting sponsor?

A title sponsor's name becomes part of the event name, as in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. A presenting sponsor follows the name with "presented by". Title usually costs more. Many pageants use the two words loosely, so check the exact wording a tier prints before you compare prices.

How much does it cost to be a title sponsor?

Published US pageant title tiers run from about $2,500 (Continental Worldwide) to $10,000 and up (Pageant Planet, Miss Earth USA). Community events charge $5,000 for a 5K title and $10,000 for a large heritage festival's top tier. MissSlavic's Title tier is $4,390 a month or $43,900 a year.

What is a title sponsorship package?

A title sponsorship package is the top bundle a property sells: naming rights plus signage, program placement, tickets, stage time and digital mentions. The package lists each benefit so both sides know what was bought. Ours is the Title row on the sponsorship page, with every benefit marked.

Is sponsoring a beauty pageant tax deductible?

For a business, usually yes, as an advertising expense under IRC section 162. It is rarely a charitable deduction, because most nonprofit pageants are 501(c)(4) organizations rather than charities. Keep the invoice and the list of placements, and confirm with your accountant.

Can there be more than one title sponsor?

Not for naming. The "presented by" line goes to one brand per gala, because two names on one title confuse the audience and dilute both. Every other tier, Platinum included, can be held by several brands at once.

Can I sponsor only one country contest?

The Title tier covers the world gala and every country contest at once. To focus on one community, pick Silver or Gold, which place your logo on the country boards, and read the heritage page for that community.

Put your brand on the crown moment

One price, one checkout, naming rights at the world gala and your logo across every country contest.
