The short answer
Can you enter a Czech beauty pageant if you live in the United States?
Yes, and there are two routes. The long established one is the Miss Czech-Slovak US Pageant, held in Wilber, Nebraska every August since 1987, which asks you to be 16 to 26, single and unwed, of Czech, Moravian, Silesian, Slovak or Rusyn descent, and to model a traditional kroj. The other is MissSlavic, an online pageant you enter directly from wherever you live. Miss Czech Republic, the national title inside Czechia, is closed to you entirely unless you live there. If you are 27 or older, married, a mother, or you simply do not own a kroj, the online route is the one still open to you.

Why MissSlavic works for Czech American contestants
The Czech-Slovak circuit in the United States is genuine and well run, but it is narrow by design. Every gate it sets is a gate MissSlavic does not have.
Only ten states hold a qualifying pageant
Miss Czech-Slovak US lists state pageants in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. That leaves forty states with no local door at all. If you are Czech American in California, Ohio, Florida or Pennsylvania, your only route is at-large approval, and that window closes on May 1. MissSlavic has no geography rule and no deadline of that kind.
The kroj requirement is real, and it is expensive
The organizers describe theirs as the only national Czech and Slovak pageant where an ethnic costume, the kroj, is a must. Contestants are judged on modeling it and on a description they write covering its history and region. A genuine kroj is hand made and can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, or months of family sourcing. MissSlavic has no costume category.
No age ceiling, married women and mothers welcome
Miss Czech-Slovak US requires contestants to be single and unwed and stops at 26. Miss Czech Republic runs roughly 17 to 28 and requires you to live in the Czech Republic. MissSlavic sets no upper age limit and has never had a marital rule, so a 34 year old mother of Czech descent competes on the same terms as a 21 year old.
No three day trip to Wilber
The national pageant runs the first weekend of August and contestants must be present for all three days of competition, plus the private interview, kroj modeling, on stage interview and a talent piece. That is a week of vacation and a flight to Nebraska before you have paid for anything else. MissSlavic happens entirely online.

Select Czechia as the country you represent. Most of our Czech contestants are second, third or fourth generation Czech Americans representing the country their family left, from Texas, Nebraska, Illinois and everywhere in between.
Build your entry and get approved
Upload two to five clear, tasteful photos and a short bio in your own words, including the cause you care about. You are welcome to wear a kroj if your family has one, but nothing requires it. Moderators review every entry against the rules and image rights, usually within a day or two.

To be fair to the Czech titles, both do things we do not. Miss Czech-Slovak US awards over $10,000 in cash scholarships, has run since 1987, and does more to keep Czech and Slovak culture alive in America than any online platform can: the kroj category and the history questions in its private interview exist for a reason, and its new travel grant is a real attempt to help contestants who cannot afford the flight. Miss Czech Republic is a national title with a route to Miss World. MissSlavic awards no cash prize. What we offer is a stage you can step onto directly, from anywhere, at any adult age, married or single, without a costume, a qualifier or a trip.

Czech beauty pageants, answered
Contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 26, single and unwed, female, and of Czech, Moravian, Slovak, Rusyn or Silesian descent. Every contestant must own and model a kroj, compete in all four categories, and be present for all three days in Wilber, Nebraska. At-large entries must be approved by May 1, and all final entries are due June 1.
Not through Miss Czech-Slovak US, which caps entry at 26, and not through Miss Czech Republic, which runs to about 28 and requires residence in the Czech Republic. MissSlavic has no upper age limit. If you are 27, 35 or 50 with Czech ancestry, you can enter online today and compete against everyone else on the same terms.
Not the Miss Czech-Slovak US Pageant, whose published guidelines require contestants to be single and unwed. Marital status and motherhood have never been part of MissSlavic eligibility, so married women and mothers of Czech heritage are welcome here. It is one of the clearest differences between the two routes.
For the national Czech-Slovak pageant, yes. The organizers call theirs the only national Czech and Slovak pageant where an ethnic costume is a must, and contestants are judged on kroj modeling and on a written description covering the costume's history and region. MissSlavic has no costume requirement. Wear a kroj in your photos if you have one, but nothing depends on it.
Ten: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. Everywhere else you must apply as an at-large contestant and be approved by May 1. The 2026 national contestant list did include delegates from New York and New Jersey, so the at-large route genuinely works, but it is a deadline most people discover too late.
MissSlavic asks for Slavic heritage, not a passport and not a paper trail. If your family roots trace to Bohemia, Moravia or Czech Silesia, you can represent Czechia. That differs from the Czech-Slovak circuit, where contestants have to be able to prove their ancestry, and from Miss Czech Republic, which is limited to women living in the country.
