The short answer
Can you enter a Belarusian beauty pageant if you live in the United States?
Not the national one. Miss Belarus, organized by the state National School of Beauty together with the Ministry of Culture and the ONT television channel, publishes six conditions: Belarusian citizenship and permanent residence in Belarus, an age of 18 to 27 inclusive on the day of the final, a height of at least 172 cm, no tattoos or piercings, never having been married, and no children. The first condition alone rules out every woman who lives in the US, whatever her ancestry. We also looked for a Belarusian American heritage pageant, the kind Czech and Slovak Americans run in Nebraska, and found none operating in 2026. That leaves this route. MissSlavic is an online pageant for women of Slavic heritage, open 18 and over with no upper age limit, married or single, mothers welcome, with no height rule and no travel. Why MissSlavic works for Belarusian American contestants
Miss Belarus is a serious national title with an international pathway. It is also written for women who live in Belarus, and nearly every line of its rulebook shuts out the diaspora.
Citizenship and residence, not ancestry
The official conditions require Belarusian citizenship and permanent residence on Belarusian territory, regardless of where you study or work. A second generation Belarusian American raised in Brooklyn or Cleveland fails that test before age, height or marital status even come up. There is no at-large or diaspora category, and the regional castings that fed the 2025 final were held in Belarusian cities such as Vitebsk, Novopolotsk, Mogilev and Gomel.
A six-part rulebook most women fail somewhere
Even setting citizenship aside, Miss Belarus stops at 27 on the day of the final, requires a height of at least 172 cm (roughly 5 feet 8 inches), bars tattoos and piercings, and admits only women who have never been married and have no children. A divorced woman is out, and so is a mother of any age. MissSlavic sets no upper age limit, no height floor and no marital or motherhood rule.
Flying in for a casting is not a realistic plan
The US State Department rates Belarus at Travel Advisory Level 4 and tells Americans not to travel there for any reason. The US Embassy in Minsk suspended operations on February 28, 2022, and all consular services, routine and emergency, remain suspended. A trip to a casting would mean going with no American consular help if anything went wrong. Here, you enter from your phone.
Your family papers may say Russian or Polish
Many Belarusians who reached the US before World War I were recorded as Russian if they were Orthodox or as Polish if they were Catholic, and some older families still describe themselves as White Russian. The 1990 census counted only 4,277 people claiming Belarusian ancestry. If your records say Russia or Poland but your family came from around Hrodna, Minsk or Vitebsk, you can represent Belarus here. We ask about heritage, not paperwork.

To be fair to Miss Belarus, it does things we do not. It has crowned a winner every two years since 1998, its final is produced with the national broadcaster ONT, and the winner earns the right to represent Belarus at international pageants. Maria Vasilevich, Miss Belarus 2018, reached the top five at Miss World. The 2025 winner, Alena Kucheruk of Polotsk, took home the crown, a cash prize and a car. We award no car and send nobody to Miss World. What we offer is a door that is open to the diaspora: no citizenship rule, no height floor, no age ceiling, no marital rule, and no fee.

Not one we could find. Czech and Slovak Americans have a national heritage pageant in Wilber, Nebraska, but we found no Belarusian American equivalent running in 2026. The national Miss Belarus title is held inside Belarus and limited to citizens who live there. MissSlavic runs a Belarus contest online that women of Belarusian heritage in the US can enter today.
Not unless she is also a Belarusian citizen who lives permanently in Belarus. The official conditions require both, regardless of where the woman studies or works, so living in the US disqualifies you on its own. The pageant has no diaspora or at-large category, and its regional castings take place in Belarusian cities.

The US State Department advises Americans not to travel to Belarus for any reason and rates it Level 4, its highest warning. The US Embassy in Minsk has been in suspended operations since February 28, 2022, with no routine or emergency consular services. Entering online avoids the trip entirely.
Yes. Many Belarusians who emigrated before World War I were registered as Russian or Polish depending on their church, and plenty of families still say White Russian. MissSlavic asks for Slavic heritage, not documents. If your family came from what is now Belarus and you identify with it, you can choose Belarus.
