Georgia runs two full state systems, a senior pageant and roughly 25 local preliminaries, and one of them now takes an all-digital entry for women who never won a local title. Here is what each Georgia pageant actually asks for, which one fits your age and situation, and how to compete without a travel budget.

What beauty pageants can you enter in Georgia?
Georgia has four main routes. Miss Georgia is the Miss America preliminary and takes women 18 to 28, either through one of about 25 local titles or through the Statewide Digital Competition, an at-home entry route the organization launched in January 2025 specifically for women who have not won a local. Miss Georgia USA is the Miss USA preliminary; it has no upper age limit, so any woman 18 or older can apply directly, and married women and mothers are eligible. Ms. Georgia Senior America competes at 60 and older. Below those sit local, independent and cultural pageants across Atlanta, Savannah and the rest of the state, each writing its own rules.

Four things that decide which Georgia pageant you can enter
Almost every rejected application comes down to one of these four. Check them before you pay an entry fee.
Your age on a specific date
Miss Georgia follows the Miss America calendar and uses two separate dates: you must be no younger than 18 as of September 1 and no older than 28 as of September 30 of the competition year. Miss Georgia USA has no upper age limit at all, so any woman 18 or older qualifies. Ms. Georgia Senior America starts at 60. The cutoff date matters more than your age today, so read the exact date each organization publishes for the year you plan to compete.
How long you have lived in Georgia
The two systems ask for different amounts of time, and this is where Georgia differs from most states people compare it to. Miss Georgia follows the Miss America standard of 120 consecutive days, which you can satisfy three ways: living in Georgia, holding full-time in-person employment in the state of at least 40 hours a week for those 120 days, or being enrolled full time at an accredited Georgia college or university. Miss Georgia USA asks for only 90 days of Georgia residency before the pageant, a full month less.
Marriage and children
This is where the two systems split hardest. Miss USA repealed the rules that barred women over 28, married women and mothers, so the Miss Georgia USA Miss division is open to divorced women, married women and women with children. Miss Georgia, on the Miss America side, still requires contestants to be single with no legal dependents. Both teen divisions stay closed to married contestants and mothers.
Whether you need a local title first
Neither of the two big systems forces you to win a city title, though they get you there differently. Miss Georgia lists roughly 25 local preliminaries built around counties, cities and universities, and alongside them runs the Statewide Digital Competition, whose stated purpose is to reach young women who would not consider competing for a local program. Miss Georgia USA takes applications directly to the state pageant with no preliminary at all.

How to enter a Georgia pageant this year
The practical answer depends on how much runway you have before the state competition, and on which of the two calendars you are working against.
Decide between a local title and the digital route
Georgia gives you a real choice here that most states do not. If there is a local preliminary near you that still has an open date, winning it puts you on the Miss Georgia stage with stage reps already banked. If there is not, or if a live local is not realistic for you, the Statewide Digital Competition exists for exactly that case and the organization says any candidate who has not won a local is encouraged to register.
Match the system to your situation
If you are married or a mother, or you are past 28, the Miss Georgia USA Miss division is open to you and the Miss America side is not. If you want scholarship money and have a talent to perform, Miss Georgia is the one that pays: the organization awarded more than 85,000 dollars in scholarships across competition week in 2026 alone.
Budget the real cost, including Columbus
The digital route lists 75 dollars plus a 39.99 dollar annual Miss America subscription that is non-refundable. That is only the entry. Candidates selected through it attend the Miss Georgia Forum in Columbus in early March and then pay the state competition fee on top. Add a gown, interview wardrobe, headshots, coaching and hotel nights in Columbus for competition week and you have the number that actually matters.

Metro Atlanta holds one of the fastest-growing Eastern European communities in the South, concentrated around Chamblee, Doraville, Marietta, Duluth and Sandy Springs, with Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Serbian, Croatian and Bulgarian families spread out toward Savannah, Augusta and Columbus. Georgia already runs heritage and cultural pageants on this same model. If your family came from any Slavic country, you can enter representing it, wherever in the state you live now.

Where we lose: if you want scholarship money, a live stage in Columbus and a title that leads to Miss USA or Miss America, a Georgia state pageant is the only thing that does that, and no online format substitutes for it. Miss Georgia awards real scholarship dollars; we do not. We also require Slavic heritage, so if your family is not from one of these countries, the Georgia locals are your route. Local directors set their own age bands, residency rules and entry fees, so read that specific pageant's page rather than the state one.
Columbus, Georgia. The Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition runs at the Bill Heard Theatre inside the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in historic Uptown Columbus, and the 81st edition was held there June 17 to 20, 2026. Miss Georgia USA is separate and holds its state pageant in McDonough, Georgia, so the two systems put you in completely different parts of the state.
No. Neither Miss Georgia nor Miss Georgia USA publishes a minimum or maximum height, and contestants are not measured to qualify. The 5 foot 7 figure people repeat comes from runway modeling, not from pageant rulebooks. A small independent pageant in Atlanta can write its own rule, so check that specific pageant's own eligibility page before you assume.
Yes. Miss USA repealed its upper age limit, so Miss Georgia USA accepts any woman 18 or older who meets the citizenship and 90-day Georgia residency rules. This is a real difference from the Miss Georgia side, which still caps entrants at 28 as of September 30 of the competition year. If you are past 28 and want a state-level title in Georgia, the USA side is your only route of the two.
The Statewide Digital Competition lists a 75 dollar entry plus the 39.99 dollar annual Miss America subscription fee, which the organization states is non-refundable. If you are selected to advance, you then pay the state competition fee and attend the Miss Georgia Forum March 1 to 3 in Columbus. Budget for a gown, coaching and hotel nights on top of those published numbers.
It splits the score four ways. A resume with a 30-second introductory video is worth 15 percent, the Social Impact Initiative essay another 15 percent, a 90-second talent video 35 percent, and a virtual live interview the final 35 percent. Talent and interview together carry 70 percent of the result, which tells you where to put your preparation time.
More than 85,000 dollars in scholarships were awarded across Miss Georgia competition week in 2026, spread over the titleholders, runners-up, preliminary winners and non-finalist awards rather than paid to one person. That scholarship structure is the main practical reason to choose the Miss America side over the USA side if you are eligible for both.
Sophia Wootten, representing Northwest Georgia, was crowned Miss Georgia 2026 at the 81st Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition in Columbus in June 2026, with Melony Tidmore crowned Miss Georgia Teen 2026.
