Florida runs two full state systems plus a senior pageant and hundreds of local titles, and the entry rules are not the same across them. Here is what each Florida pageant actually requires, which one fits your age and situation, and how to compete from home if driving across the state is the part that stops you.

What beauty pageants can you enter in Florida?
Florida has four main routes. Miss Florida is the Miss America preliminary and takes women 18 to 28 who enter as a local, state or At-Large participant. Miss Florida USA is the Miss USA preliminary; after Miss USA dropped its upper age limit for 2026 it now takes women 18 and older, and married women and mothers are eligible. Ms. Florida Senior America, part of the Ms. Senior America system, competes at 60 and older. Below those sit hundreds of independent and cultural pageants across Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville, each with its own rules.

Four things that decide which Florida pageant you can enter
Almost every rejected application comes down to one of these four. Check them before you pay an entry fee.
Your age on a specific date
Miss Florida follows the Miss America calendar: no older than 28 as of September 30, 2026, and at least 18 as of September 1, 2026. Miss Florida USA changed for 2026: Miss USA eliminated its upper age limit, so any woman 18 or older can now compete. Ms. Florida Senior America starts at 60. The cutoff date matters more than your age today, so read the exact date each organization publishes.
How long you have lived in Florida
Miss Florida USA asks for permanent Florida residency of at least three months before the pageant, or full-time enrollment at a Florida school with one completed semester, or full-time Florida employment. Miss Florida, on the Miss America side, asks for 120 consecutive days of Florida residency, and accepts full-time in-person employment (40 hours a week) or full-time enrollment at an accredited Florida college as an alternative.
Marriage and children
This is where the two systems split. Miss Florida USA lets you compete in the Miss division if you are married, have been married, are pregnant, or are a parent, a national Miss USA change made in 2023. Miss Florida, on the Miss America side, follows the national Miss America rules for its Miss division. The teen divisions of both systems remain closed to married contestants and mothers.
Whether you need a local title first
Miss Florida lets you compete as an At-Large, local or state participant, so you do not have to win a city title before the state competition. Local titles still run across Florida and give you extra stage reps. Miss Florida USA and Ms. Florida Senior America take applications directly. Knowing which door you are using changes your whole timeline.

We also require Slavic heritage, so if your family is not from one of these countries, the Florida locals are your route.
